A hidden-gem cafe at 43 High Street with a semi-enclosed back deck that's basically Auckland's best urban courtyard — graffitied concrete, big trees pressing in between the towers, and a retractable cover so the rain never kills the plan. Reviewers keep calling it an escape.

The room seats 60 (80 standing) and comes into its own after 3:30pm daily — workshops, creative sessions, birthdays, dinner parties and pop-ups all sit well here. Coffee's excellent; the kitchen holds up its end.
